Undoubtedly, one of the key points in the value chain for the goods logistics and distribution service is the warehousing service. It is the axis around which the rest of the phases of a process pivot. MARTICO is strongly committed to this by managing state-of-the-art warehouses.
Nothing is left to chance in MARTICO’s warehouses. Activity never stops and this requires a very detailed and thorough management system in order to be as efficient as possible. Time is precious for Martico and for delivering each customer’s goods to their destination.
Products are constantly coming and going. Loading and unloading vehicles are also constantly on the move. However, this is all highly coordinated. This could be seen on our tour of the MARTICO warehouses.
MARTICO increases its storage capacity.
MARTICO’s business volume has grown steadily and, in order to be able to continue offering its customers a high quality service in terms of lead times and safety, it is expanding its services by operating warehouses all over mainland Spain: Barcelona, Tarragona, Valencia, Llodio, Guadalajara, etc. With this new warehousing expansion, the company has more than 300,000m² – 315,000 m² of storage space for stocking goods.
It’s not all about space.
State-of-the-art technology also plays a key role.
Entering the operations centre in the new MARTICO warehouses, you will notice the extensive IT equipment each of them has. At the controls of these sophisticated pieces of equipment and management systems are the warehouse control team.
MARTICO also has a portal or computer platform that we have been able to see “in situ”, where all of the steps are managed, from the notification of the arrival of the goods to their distribution in the final order, whatever the means, lead time and form, in order to do so in the most profitable and safest way for the goods. This advanced management and control system allows the company to both know and inform the customer in real time where their goods are.
The terms FIFO, LIFO and FEFO indicate the methods of moving goods and this information helps determine the correct storage of each good at all times, also considering other possible special conditions such as temperature and safety, for storing both perishable and dangerous goods.
MARTICO has recently had the good fortune to be on the front page of the Diario del Puerto, to mark the celebration of the “2022 Buti Buti Logistics Festival” next to one of our warehouses in Barcelona.
